This site wasnt referred to as St. Anns Retreat until after 1959 when the Sisters of the Holy Cross would come to the camp for respite. The fatal fall leads to the dead nun returning to haunt the sister who killed her, banging on her door at night and laughing with glowing red eyes when her murderer would look outside. Floating face down in a pool just outside the nunnery was the body of her infant son. He viewed them as a danger to himself. Copyright 2023 USU Digital Exhibits The Fife Folklore Archives at Utah State University houses about fifty legend versions of St. Annes Retreat, and an additional twenty-six of the related Hecate legend version, collected by students through the years. Another version similarly states: "If you go up Logan Canyon to 3rd dam you can summon the Devil's wife, her name is Heckada" (Fife Folklore Archives,Folk Coll 8a: Group 7: Box 11, Folder 2:L2.3.1.15.9).
